NAEYC Accreditation

Emerson School has been nationally accredited since 1992 by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Programs accredited by NAEYC voluntarily exceed minimum licensing standards set by the state to provide the most beneficial practices for children.  Schools undergo a comprehensive process of internal self-study, and invite external professional review to verify compliance with the NAEYC's criteria for high quality early childhood programs.

The required criteria Emerson must meet for accreditation includes providing activities appropriate for the age and interests of preschool children, maintaining a high ratio of staff to children, establishing high quality teacher-child interactions, meeting stringent safety standards, and having opportunities for parent involvement. The accreditation process includes an on-site study of the program and a review by a three member national commission.  Emerson was most recently reviewed through this process in February 2018.
